7.5 Taking "Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works" Further - Next Steps Information

The next step to truly and effectively creating a classroom environment where best practice instruction is supported by the use of technology is to take an in-depth course that has proven success in training teachers. That course is 21Things4Teachers.

The purpose of 21Things4Teachers is to provide training through an online interface for K-12 educators based on the International Society for Technology in Education Standards for Teachers (ISTE Standards-T) and the "Classroom Instruction that Works” (McREL) framework. The 21Things helps educators make connections between technology tools and best practice instructional strategies. Educators completing this training will build their own skills as they develop a digital portfolio of their work.

Participants will:

  • learn how to implement strategies from research-based best practice instruction
  • build technology skills using free, web-based tools and apps
  • apply their skills to projects for their classrooms and instructional practice
  • learn what students need in order to meet the NETS for students

Integrating technology into best practice instruction is a vital component of the 21Things4Teachers course.  Using the Mid-Continent Research for Education and Learning's (McREL) "Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works" (CITW) framework, the 21Things4Teachers helps educators make connections between technology tools and best practice instructional strategies.

21things4teachers has earned the ISTE Seal of Alignment for its efforts to educate teachers in the use of technology.  The resources and activities in the course can be used to meet ALL of the International Technology Standards for Teachers!
