Introduction to Online Assessment Tools
In order to create an online assessment item, you must first become familiar with one or more online assessment tools. This lesson will provide you with information about different assessment tools that are freely available to teachers. Highlights and challenges of each tool will be provided, as well as tutorials on how to use each tool. This lesson will focus only on three online assessment tools; Socrative 2, Poll Everywhere, and GoSoapbox. These tools are best used for formative assessment items.
A list of optional online assessment tools will be provided at the end of the lesson. Your district may also have an assessment tool that is not mentioned, typically paid versions tied to your student information system and/or grade book. Some of these tools have more in-depth features that allow for technology enhanced formative and summative assessments (refer back to Introduction to Next Generation Assessments if you would like to review the components of formative and summative assessments) .
