1. Overview and Objectives
Welcome to the T3 (Teacher Technology Training) Course!
The goal of Classroom Readiness is to build the capacity of Michigan educators to effectively plan and implement online assessments and "Any Time, Any Place, Any Way, Any Pace" learning through increasing technology proficiency.
Using a train-the-trainer model, this project provides collaboration opportunities for a statewide professional development network of K-12 educators with a training ground and resource base to improve technology proficiency and local district readiness for online assessments. All educators throughout Michigan have access to the training resources.
After completing this course, the educator will:

Know how to access the resources available in Michigan to assist with tech readiness

Understand how to use the materials and resources available in this course

Make connections with a variety of educational portals and experts to enhance classroom instruction and online test readiness

Transfer the learning to professional practice by ensuring educators in Michigan are improving technology proficiency and local district readiness for online assessments

2. Course Contents
Students in Michigan will begin taking their standardized assessments online in 2014-15. Gone will be the days of penciling in the circles in a bubble sheet and handwritten essays.
The creators of this course have put together ten modules to assist educators to learn more about the changes taking place in regards to next generation online assessments as well as give educators the skills to change their instruction in the classroom to meet the needs of their 21st century learners.
It is critical for students to be proficient in a number of technology skills before taking the online assessments. The purpose of the assessments is determining the student's mastery of their subjects not their technology abilities. Lack of technology skills could negatively impact a student's performance on a next generation assessment, and not give a true measure of their subject knowledge.
Here is a short summary/outcome of what you will learn in each module:
Module 1: T3 Course Orientation
Participants will be able to easily navigate through the T3 course, create and use Google Drive document, and learn typing resources to use with students.
Module 2: Orientation to the Michigan Standards
Participants will explore various next steps by exploring established websites and educational portals available to all Michigan educators in preparation for Next Generation Assessments.
Module 3: All About Next Generation Assessments
Participants will explore various next generation assessments and reflect upon how these assessments impact classroom practice.
Module 4: Diverse Learners
Participants will be able to recognize and respect learner diversity and understand the implications of technology supports on high stakes testing for students in the margins.
Module 5: Creating the Environment for Learning
Participants will integrate technology tools and resources into classroom practice and reflect on the implications.
Module 6: Helping Students Develop Understanding
Participants will integrate technology tools and resources into classroom practice and reflect on the implications
Module 7: Helping Students Extend and Apply Knowledge
Participants will integrate technology tools and resources into classroom practice and reflect on the implications
Module 8: Introduction to Blended Learning
Participants will create and implement a blended activity for their classroom, which will be shared and reflected on for further growth.
Module 9: Developing Your Own Online Assessment Items
Participants will design and develop an online assessment item, which will be reviewed and then shared to the Classroom Readiness Assessment Item Database (AID).
Module 10: Data Collection and Conferencing
Participants will review local school improvement protocol and responsibilities, dig demographic, perception, process and achievement data using the MISchoolData, MTRAx and online survey and assessment tools, create and implement an online assessment and use the assessment data to determine instructional next steps.
