9.3 Assessment Item Development
Item Specification Table
In order to create high quality next generation online assessment items, one must follow a thought process based on a set of specific requirements. Extensive work has been done by the Smarter Balanced Consortium and Bureau of Assessment and Accountability (Michigan) to outline the essential components of a high quality assessment item. Based on that work and in effort to meet the needs of all content areas, a modified Item Specification Table has been created for you to use. This Item Specification table is embedded into section 9.3 of your Digital Portfolio. During the remainder of this Module, you will be required to complete and review this table while developing your online assessment item.
Digital Portfolio Activity
At this time, review each component of the Item Specification Table in section 9.3 of your Digital Portfolio. You may fill in preliminary thoughts/ideas for some of the components, but at this point, it should be blank. You will be asked to complete the table and edit information as you move though the remainder of this module.
