1)By the end of class students will be able to fully understand the importance of Hamlet’s famous soliloquy and how it can affect the rest of the play as well as the difference between reading a play and seeing it performed. Students will demonstrate this knowledge through group discussions and by reflecting allowed on video clips shown in class.
2) As I describe in #4, I will be able to observe and comment on students' work through their shared Google Doc to keep them on the right direction. I can also verbally discuss with students in class but I think that utilizing comments in Google Docs will create a better impact on students and their work.
3) I will be able to see the effort of each student in the Google Docs and discuss one-on-one with each student how they are helping the group and ways that they could work harder to participate in group discussion. I do not think I will be utilizing a Recognition system (badges, certificates, etc). I will mainly be providing recognition verbally to students throughout the class period.
4) Students will be working in groups to further discuss and develop their opinions on the clips and the importance of the soliloquy itself. There will be some use of cooperative learning because the groups will have to each come up with their own thought-out responses to the questions I pose. In these groups will be structure and roles for each student (i.e. the leader, the secretary, etc). Though there will be a paper copy of the questions, students will also have the opportunity to share a Google Doc to answer the questions so that all students contribute to the discussion in the group.
